A capstone project for SCAD's Motion Media Design Master's program. This piece was created in 8 weeks, from concept to final render, during the first fully online semester during the Covid-19 pandemic. The keyword for this piece was "home." Returning home, being homesick, nostalgic for home, all these themes were in my mind as I designed this video. I was abruptly sent home from school during the pandemic, and finally returning permanently from almost 7 years of schooling heavily influenced this piece. Being from Miami, my sense of home is not the sunny beaches, but the dilapidated and unkempt buildings in the inland neighborhoods, still sporting the 80s aesthetic made famous by Miami Vice and the vaporwave aesthetic. My good friend, Kris Alvarez, known to most as Firstworld, was kind enough to lend his vaporwave, chillwave, Miami-influenced music for this project, and I can't thank him enough.
